Ottawa Centre is a target riding, where we can help elect a PR champion to the House of Commons.

Ottawa Centre is held by Liberal MP and Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Catherine McKenna. From 2004 to 2015, the riding was held by the NDP’s Ed Broadbent followed by Paul Dewar. McKenna won in 2015 by a margin of about 4% over the NDP.

According to 338canada.com, this riding is a Liberal/NDP race. The only time this riding was represented by a Conservative was from 1978-1979.

Fair Vote Canada is running online ads in this riding, reminding voters that Justin Trudeau broke his promise, and urging them to support candidates who are committed to getting proportional representation back on the table. Endorsed candidates: Emilie Taman (NDP) and Angela Keller-Herzog (Green Party).

More Information about the candidates and riding

Ottawa Centre has always been held by the Liberals or the NDP, with one exception (Progressive Conservative 1978-1979).

Both the NDP and Greens have a commitment to proportional representation in their campaign platforms.

On proportional representation, both Emilie Taman and Angela Keller-Herzog are strong supporters. Emilie represented the NDP at Fair Vote Canada’s Annual General Meeting in June 2019 (Elizabeth May appeared by video for the Green Party). Emilie also shared this video on PR in August, 2019:
