More Information about the candidates and riding

Kootenay-Columbia has almost always gone Conservative, with NDP MP Wayne Stetski’s narrow win in 2015 breaking the pattern.

Both the NDP and Greens have a commitment to proportional representation in their campaign platforms.

On proportional representation, MP Wayne Stetski has, for example:

  • spoken out for proportional representation numerous times in the House of Commons
  • visited 14 communities to hold consultations while federal Electoral Reform Committee was seeking feedback
  • presented local petitions by Fair Vote Canada supporters three times in the House
  • spoken out about proportional representation consistently in the media
  • continued to meet with local Fair Vote Canada supporters
  • made sure to mention the commitment to proportional representation in the NDP’s platform in the media.

Green Party candidate Abra Brynne has posted about PR on facebook. She also expressed support in the Nelson Daily.
