Welcome to Fair Vote Canada’s discussion forum!

This forum is for general discussion of electoral systems, current events, politics, and all things Proportional Representation related. It is also a space to talk about FVC campaign strategies, actions, and coordination. If you have an idea for a new topic, do a search to see if a topic exists and if it doesn’t feel free to start up a new topic! If you’ve got a question post it and you’ll likely get tons of insightful replies.

    RULES

    1. All Images require citation. (including but not limited to screenshots or snips of documentation) Any image posted on the forum requires image citation. This includes any documentation, maps, external documents, etc. Posts without image citation will be deleted.
    2. Material that is knowingly defamatory, discriminatory, illegal, abusive, threatening or harassing, is strictly prohibited. This includes discrimination due to race, skin colour, gender, sex, sexual orientation, religion or disability. As with anything, use common sense when posting. Posts containing personal attacks on another user will be deleted and may in extreme cases lead to forum suspension or ban.
    3. Material that is sexual, obscene, or indecent is not permitted. Topics/posts containing such will be deleted on sight. If you violate this rule, you may be banned without prior warning
    4. No advertising or soliciting. Consumerism has enough impact on our lives already.
    Freedom of your own opinion?

You have the privilege, and not the right, to participate in the forum. As an advocacy group for Proportional Representation, this forum is intended as a space for discussion regarding proportional electoral systems and not for winner-take-all voting systems (including Alternate Vote). Unless discussion is directly relevant to proportional representation (for instance, if a single position needs to be filled in a by-election or for a special position such as speaker or mayor), we ask that forum members refrain from these topics here and share them elsewhere.

What happens if I break the rules?

At best your post will be deleted. For a minor offense, we may email you a warning. For anything worse or repeat offenders, we may suspend your account for 30 days or permanently ban your account.

What if I disagree with the rules or how a rule was enforced?

Every forum member has the right to appeal without fear of suspension or ban. If you disagree with a moderators decision, please do not write a new post asking about it. Instead, submit an appeal to Anita at office@fairvote.ca. Anita will adjudicate the decision and make a final judgement. If you have any questions or concerns about any of the rules, send your forum moderator an email at: George (dot) Hill (dot) 2 (at) outlook (dot) com.

Please do not post here. If you have questions or appeals to the rules, please email a mod. If it’s something else, feel free to make a new topic about it if there isn’t one on it already.
