Welcome!  This is YOUR page, where you can discover what is going on, interact with other supporters, suggest further initiatives, and generally own your movement.  Because, you do.  If there are things you’d like to see here, please let us know.  We will try our best to make it happen (be warned, it may mean you volunteering to do it).

Join the Discussion on Slack. Slack is an interactive discussion platform that replaces (or compliments) email. You can choose what “channels” of discussion topics you want to join and talk with others across Canada who are helping the campaign. CLICK HERE to request to join Fair Vote Canada on Slack and we will send you an invitation.

News and Events from Our Local Teams

Find below just a few examples of what our local teams and volunteers have been up to! You do not need to have a big group to make a big difference. To find your local leader, CLICK HERE. To start your own group, contact us.

Fair Vote Waterloo had information tables out at twelve festivals this summer! This followed a busy winter of rallies, events and letter writing. Hundreds of signatures were collected and postcards sent to MPs. This fall they will again visit local Liberal MPs with petitions for proportional representation.  To contact Fair Vote Waterloo, contact sharon.sommerville@gmail.com. Visit their website at http://www.fairvotewrc.ca/. Photo credit: Laurel Russwurm.

Fair Vote Kootenays was out in Nelson’s Pride Parade in August. They are frequently at local events, writing to the newspaper, and on the radio. Over the past year this team visited communities across the Kootenays collecting feedback which went to the federal ERRE committee. They also collected more local petition signers than any team in Canada and presented them to their MP! For the BC referendum, there are three teams in this region: Nelson: kootenays@fairvote.ca (Ann), Castlegar: castlegar@fairvote.ca (Greg) and Grand Forks: grandforks@fairvote.ca (Christy).

Fair Vote Victoria organized a packed town hall on electoral reform in September.  Guest speakers: NDP MLA Leonard Krog, Green Party MLA Sonia Furstenau, Liberal Party MLA Andrew Wilkinson, Bernard Von Schullman, and Terry Dance-Bennink, Fair Vote Canada-BC. Fair Vote Victoria has been at events all summer collecting signers on the BC Vote Pledge. To get involved contact Rick at victoria@fairvote.ca

7) Ontario Supporters

Are you in a riding with an NDP MPP? The Ontario provincial election is in June 2018 and proportional representation is not in the Ontario NDP’s  recent”Vision” document. The ON NDP maybe in a position to move PR forward in June 2018 – as a government or as a condition of supporting a minority – but they need to hear from you now. CLICK HERE TO CALL or CLICK HERE TO WRITE your ON NDP MPP and ask them to put PR in their platform.

8) Learn more about PR by joining a webinar.

“PR 101”, international guests, and how PR systems work – we cover it all! Find out what’s coming up on www.fairvote.ca/webinars.
