Rally to Resume Parliament (Waterloo Region), 23 January 2010

The Waterloo Region Chapter of Fair Vote Canada attended the Waterloo No Prorogue Rally on 23 January 2010 hosted by Canadians Against Proroguing Parliament

People of Waterloo Region and surrounding area gathered at Waterloo Town Square to protest Prime Minister Harper's prorogation of parliament, and urged him to resume parliament now.

Fair Vote Canada did not organize or sponsor this rally, but the Fair Vote Canada Waterloo Region Chapter was there to provide information on Electoral Reform, Fair Voting, and regaining true democracy in Canada.

2009 Annual General Meeting of the Waterloo Chapter

Date: Monday, 8 June 2009 at 7:00pm to 9:00pm
Location: Community Meeting Room, second floor, Zehrs store at the Laurentian Power Centre, 750 Ottawa Street South, Kitchener, ON (map)

The meeting included elections to the board of the Fair Vote Canada Waterloo Region Chapter. A few board members stepped down, including chapter co-chair Angela Yenssen, so several spaces were available on the board for interested members.

The meeting also featured a roundtable discussion on the future of the electoral reform movement in Canada in light of the recent referenda in Ontario (2007) and British Columbia (2006, 2009). This discussion will included Angela Yenssen's research for her Master's degree in Public Policy, Administration and Law regarding voting rights in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Angela Yenssen organised car pool arrangements from Waterloo Region.

This forum examined strategies for Ontarians to help advance voting reform at the federal and provincial levels.
