Students & Youth for Fair Voting
Are you a student and/or under 30, with a passion for bringing real democracy to Canada?
Do you feel unrepresented by today’s politicians? Agree that Canada’s electoral system is a bad joke and that we need a fair and proportional voting system, right now? Would you like to help launch a new group to work with other students and youth to rattle the bars of Canada’s archaic political system?
In fall 2009, Fair Vote Canada is launching Students and Youth for Fair Voting (SYFV).
SYFV will be a self-directed and democratically-governed (of course!) campaign within Fair Vote Canada, focused on campuses and youth outreach. SYFV will work on the Fair Vote Canada mission: to bring fair and proportional voting systems to all levels of government and throughout civil society…including our own campuses.
Interim SYFV coordinator Sarah Lambert, a Ryerson University student, is hunting for fellow student and youth activists who want to help launch SYFV chapters on their own campuses or would like to serve on the interim coordinating committee, responsible for guiding development of the national program.
Interested students and youth are encouraged to contact Sarah today: sarah.lambert@fairvote.ca.
