Fair Campaign Financing
Fair Vote Canada supports reform of campaign finance regulations to help provide a level playing field for candidates.
To that end, FVC supports:
1) the use of the ballot-triggered public funding programs, similar to the federal election funding to parties based on the number of votes cast for the parties
2) banning corporate and union campaign contribution in federal, provincial and municipal elections (see discussion paper)
Ontario Campaign
FVC currently has an active campaign in Ontario pressing for the implementation of these policies and hopes to have similar campaigns in other provinces in the near future.
The first action was to send a survey to 474 Ontario mayors and city councillors in the 42 largest cities and towns. The results are available here.
Those interested in the Ontario campaign or launching campaigns in other provinces should contact us at office@fairvote.ca.
