Waterloo Region 2007 Campaign
Leading up to the Provincial Election on 10 October 2007, the Waterloo Region Chapter of Fair Vote Canada ran a vigorous campaign.
On Saturday, 22 September 2007 there was an MMP Rally. It was held at Central Park in Preston, on King Street between Argyle and Westminister Drive. Speakers included: rabblerouser Judy Rebick, Prof. Brian Tanguay, Donna Reid, and former Green leader Jim Harris.
On Wednesday, September 19 the Chapter participated in a Referendum Panel at Wilfrid Laurier University. Panellists include: Waterloo Region Chapter co-chair Brian Tanguay, former Kitchener Centre MPP Jim Breithaupt, and OCA member Matthew Certosimo. This panel will take place at 4:30pm 4:00pm, at the Bricker Academic Building room 110. This is open to the public.
Also on Wednesday, September 19 the Chapter participated in a second Referendum Panel Discussion at the University of Waterloo. Panelists include: Waterloo Region Chapter co-chair Brian Tanguay, OCA members Marcia Soeda and Ron VanKoughnett, and New Zealand resident Steve Withers. This panel took place at 7:00pm in the Great Hall of the Student Life Centre, University of Waterloo. This event was open to the public.
The Chapter held Information Nights about electoral reform and the Ontario Citizen's Assembly. All of these nights were held at Wilfrid Laurier's Faculty of Social Work building in downtown Kitchener (120 Duke Street, behind Kitchener City Hall). There is free parking outside City Hall after 6:00pm. This site is wheelchair accessible.

Each weekend from Aug 25 to Oct 7 the Chapter staffed a booth at the St. Jacob's Saturday/Sunday market (formerly the Waterloo County Farmer's Market).
The chapter organized planning meetings in Waterloo, Kitchener and Cambridge.
Meetings were held at the Wilfrid Laurier Faculty of Social Work building in downtown Kitchener (120 Duke Street, behind Kitchener City Hall).
There is free parking outside City Hall after 6:00pm. This site is wheelchair accessible.

On August 19 2007 the chapter had a booth at the LINK News Magazine Picnic at Waterloo Park.
On August 5 2007 the chapter had a booth at the Pakistan Canada Day celebrations organized by the Pakistan Canada Association of Waterloo-Wellington.
On August 3 2007 the chapter had a booth at the LSPIRG ArtsWork concert at the Button Factory in Waterloo.
On July 28 2007 the chapter had a booth at the Afro Festival at Waterloo Park.
On July 28-29 2007 the chapter was at the Neighbourhood Tent at the Hillside Festival at Guelph Lake.
On Saturday, July 14 the chapter had a booth at the Kiwanis Dragon Boat Festival at the Laurel Creek Conservation Area.
On June 23 and 24 2007 the Chapter had a table at the Kitchener Multicultural Festival in Victoria Park.
On June 16 2007 the Chapter had a table at the Non Violence Festival in the Park, in Waterloo Park.
On April 24 2007 the chapter held its second Annual General meeting at Wilfrid Laurier's Faculty of Social Work building in downtown Kitchener. We selected 6 members for our new executive, and planned for the upcoming referendum campaign.
On March 10 2007 the Chapter was present at the Global Citizens Conference being held at Wilfrid Laurier University.
On Tuesday, January 13 Derek Kraan gave a
talk at Wilfrid Laurier University, at 7pm in the Paul Martin Centre.
January 31 2007 was the deadline to submit written comments to the Ontario Citizens' Assembly. You can read and search the submissions.
On January 20 2007 there was an Ontario Citizens' Assembly presentation in Guelph. The meeting was held at the Ministry of Agriculture building, 1 Stone Road, Conference Room 2 on the first floor.

On January 5 2007 chapter member Paul Nijjar spoke at the Working Centre in Kitchener at 5:00pm. This presentation was open to the public.
On November 20 2006 Waterloo Region co-Chair Derek Kraan spoke at Saltford Hall, Goderich for the local NDP Riding Association.
On November 16 2006 Fair Vote Canada Executive Director Larry Gordon spoke at the Elementary Teachers of Waterloo Region Representative Council. This presentation was not open to the public.
On November 14 2006 Fair Vote Canada Executive Director Larry Gordon spoke at Wilfrid Laurier University. The talk was open to the public, and was held at 7:00pm in Bricker Academic Building, Room 102. (Maps and Directions). Sponsored by the Laurier Students' Public Interest Group.
